How To Run A Tournament

Scoring

  • 3 points per win

  • 1 point per draw

  • 0 points per loss

Table System

  • The 1st priority is to assign 4 players to each table.

  • If the above isn’t possible (which is more than likely) then the 2nd priority is to ensure all tables have at least 3 players.

    • If there are 2 extra players then you should break-up a 4 player table to create 2x 3 player tables.

  • If the two scenario’s above aren’t possible then the 3rd priority is to give only 1 player a bye for the round, and they automatically receive 3 points.

Round Length

  • The recommended time limit per round is 70 minutes.

  • If time expires, the remaining tables acquire an extension to finish the game.  The active player during the time expiration would finish their turn, then an additional quantity of turns will occur equal to the number of players at the table.  When the additional turns have been exhausted the game ends.

    • If the game isn’t decided after the allowed turns then tie breakers are utilized to determine a winner.

Tie Breakers

  • The player whose target opponent has the lowest life total is the winner.

    • The player with the least amount of life receives a loss.

  • If multiple players are tied for the lowest life total, then the player with the highest life total is considered the winner.

    • In this scenario, the player who is the target of the winning player receives a loss.

  • If no player is the winner then the entire table receives a draw.

Conceding

  • In any game with 3 or more players, if a player concedes prior to being eliminated through natural gameplay then they are dropped from the tournament and forfeit their prize payout.

  • A player may concede without incurring the above penalty if all opponents approve of the decision.

    • If 100% of the table agrees on a loser/winner/drawers then the game can end without penalty.

    • If a player leaves prematurely the game ends and the players whose target opponent leaves will be declared the winner.

Prize Support

  • Payouts should be scaled to the quantity of points each player acquires throughout the tournament.

    • For example: every 2 points each player acquires could reward 1 set booster.
